There's always something to do at The Placer
In addition to being within walking distance of downtown Helena’s finest restaurants, the Myrna Loy and Grandstreet theaters, and the Helena Civic Center, The Placer continues to be in the hub of a variety of residential and commercial events including holiday parties, spring planting days, twice-annual Art Walks, and during the summer, the Montana Shakespeare Festival and Alive at Five, a series of live blues, jazz, and rock performances held every Wednesday evening on the Walking Mall or in nearby parks.
Our Commercial Neighbors
Ever since The Placer first opened its doors in 1913, it has served as home to a variety of successful commercial amenities and enterprises. In addition to the Northern Pacific railroad offices, the hotel once played host to a barbershop, coffee shop, nail parlor and shoe shine stand. Downstairs, the Cheerio Lounge occupied the space that residents now refer to as “the Blue Room.” Today, The Placer still offers its residents some of the same conveniences enjoyed by their historical predecessors.
